  • regearing....AGAIN...want to do it right this time

currently running 4.10s with 33's 4.0/42re and a crap load of added weight..i hate how it drives i have zero acceleration and dont mind spending money on gears again in the spring when i get my tax return...

currently im at ~1800-2200 rpm at ~60-70 mph getting ~15-17mpg give or take depends on the road...

i drive 40-60 miles round trip a day when id rive to work (carpool with my dad)..

35's are more than likely in the future but not anytime soon 33's are brand spankin new...

so 4.56 or 4.88 pros and cons for each?

to put it in perspective, i ran my old xj with 35's and 4.88's and wished i had deeper gears like 5.13's.

my new xj is getting 33's and 4.88's.

    your wj is heavier

i run 35's and 4.56's. it shifts like stock, and accelerates like a beast. I have heard the difference between 4.88's and 4.56's is super minimal though. I like my set-up it rides good, i dont fly on the highway though it does 60 at about 2500 rpm and all is good.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

hmm im not too concerned with highway since i dont do it much...more concerned about acceleration in stop and go traffic...

its either 4.56 or 4.88 since im keeping the D30 i dont tihnk going from 4.10s to 4.56 is worth it...hell it wasnt worth going 3.55s to 4.10s

              ?

im pretty sure the 4.88s and 35's is minty fresh. 4low is a beast offroad and i can do 65mph at like 2200rpm and get 19.1mpgs

at 3000rpms i can run a solid 80mph and even with more dents in one rims than most have in all 4 with the bbs in there shit rides like a caddy

Armand whos jeep is covered in more shit than idk what (seriously prolly 6-800lbs more than mine) is 4.56s on 33's and my shit smokes him all day. but woth out all that the 4.56s on 33s is nice too.

i thought 488 was the lowest..i dont want to pinion to get real tiny not that id ever break it though..4.88 seems like the best option i guess i really dont think i can over do it in this situation its pretty shitty as is..
