2001 XJ door hinge issue

My girlfriends dad has a 2001 4 door XJ and it has an issue with driver side door dropping down when opened. I havent taken a look at it yet, but does it have the hindge that is welded to the door jam? Or what is the fix for this? Thanks, Steve

I had the same problem on my 97. My front pass. door had a crack on the hinge. I had to grind the factory weld down,open the door jack it up and reweld da bitch. Now its gud 2 go..........

yes on the welded, you might wanna check the brass bushings too, they might be worn out/broken

What do I do to get rid of the cracking sound mine makes when I open and close it? It makes a sort of ca-click sound that is getting progressively louder but I don't think it sags

^^^^ mine does that same thing, for me its definately the door helper chalkadilly, as for fixing it i dont have any ideas, maybe its just nromal

mine did that cracking noise too before i did the doorless mod. must be normal

Take the doors off, problem solved.

To get rid of that slight drop and creeking noise you need to replace a few cheap things. There is a pin there that is like cut down the middle ( I know I'm not describing that the right way) but I have a link for it I"ll post when I get home. Theres a place to order the three or four parts from, and they're all under like 5$. I need to do it to mine. That noise drives me insane.
