8.8 C clips

I have my axles out and I have to take the shafts out of the 8.8. I found write ups on how to take out the c clips. It says to take out the small bolt holding the cross pin in and slid the axles in and you can pop out the c clips.

My question is since I have the lunchbox locker and I cannot see inside of the spider gears like an open carrier or limited slip. Do I still have to take out the cross pin? And will I be able to get the the c clips?
