those with tire carriers

just a stupid question, i felt like i made my tire carrier pretty stout stout enough to hols my 33" tire anyways...does anyone elses tire seem to move alittle when they're driving going over bumps? its 100% secured and isnt going to fall off or anything im just assuming all that weight bouncing around its definitely going to move alittle no matter how reinforced it is..

mine moves about 1/8" when i smack it around. doesn't appear to move at all when im lookin at it in my rearview drivin over shit. then again my carrier is also tied in better than most, mounted to my 1/4 panels.

its only the .090 tube i used flexing.

gonna rebuild it with something a little thicker

They all seem to have a bit of bounce to them. All the ones I built seemed fine.

adams (previously alex's previously other alex's, previously daves) moved around a good amount. (attatched to the factory mounts) i put some tie ins on it and it was solid. moved maybe 1/2" at most. the condition of the unibody around the mounting points has most to do with the flexing(cracks/ weakened sheetmetal) you can never tie a tire carrier in too good. the better the mounting system the less flex and a happier unibody.

My old JCR tire carrier bounced alot with a 33 on it, then I put some velcro between the crossbar and that plastic thing on the rear hatch that hold the marker light and it no longer made noise.

They JCR one only tied in two bolts back though too.

alright i was just curious...if i hit the tire it seems to have alittle play but nothing crazy but i havent added to the mounts as of yet havent gotten to it..my bumpers only mounted to wear the factor hitch is so far which is 3 bolts on one side and 2 on the other i plan on adding two more bolts on each side of the unibody...

When i has my XJ My Detours off road bumper and tire carrier combo the tire moved a bit over bumps.
