He bent his link and we didn't have enough time to do 1tons so we just welded on a heavy duty tube.

We didn't have enough time to build a front bumper but we needed to at least protect the winch.

The drum brakes with the cutting brakes just weren't cutting it.
Disc Brake conversion GM brakes and brackets from Speedway motors.

It is all circle track stuff.

Brackets are $10 just need a grinder to make them fit around the tube.
Calipers are off a cutlass you can get any where for around $30 they are about the same size as the D30 front calipers
rotors I just used front rotors.
Brake hoses you can get the kit from speedway it comes with banjo bolts too. Also Help also has the banjo bolts and find brake hoses that work for you.

they also sell calipers with e-brakes for cables built in if you want an e-brake.
Wilwood also make aluminum calipers for weight savings.

read the speedwaymotors application/specs it is all listed there.
Depending on which model bracket you use 77 down or 78 up
I used 78 and up figure there was more availability for them.

I used the d30 calipers I'm sure there is others you can use I just guessed since it has the same bolt pattern and if I was wrong I got a spare set for the front.
You might be able to find larger rotors on the explorer.

Let me know how you make out.

Another question, sorry, Did you use somesort of backing plate? Or did you just weld the bracket on and put the rotor straight on the axle shaft?

cut off the drum brake backing plate and used it as just a retaining plate to hold the axle in.

Th bracket was just weld to the axle housing tube.

These stock replacement single piston Metric calipers were standard equipment on 1978-88 GM mid-size cars (Cutlass, Grand Prix, Regals, Monte Carlo, etc.). They feature a 2.38" single piston, shielded bottom inlet, and will save 3-1/2 lbs. per side compared to mid-size 1969-1977 caliper.
