  • rear bumper mounting

you guys with custom rear bumpers (on XJs, but since err'body here has one anyway...) how did you fab the mounts through the framerail? for those who dont know, i'm buying alex's rear bumper, which was crosby's old bumper, which was made by dave a while ago...

    anywhooo..

it only has the stock 4 on each side bolts that go to the standard bumper mounts. whats a good easy and cheap way to run the mounts back through the frame rails? i have factory nutstrips btw.

    pics would rock.

    thanks.

I used tie in's, but since my nutstrip is lost somewhere in my unibody and didn't feel like removing the bumper to fish it out, i just welded the tie in to the unibody. ill get pics in a min

My Detours rear bumper had L Brackets that went down the unibody rail. The short end of the L bolted to the bumper plate where the 4 stock bolts are used. The long end of the L went in the unibody rail and 2 holes get drilled and you use 1/4" plate and bolts to button it all up.

you can easily get a strip made that will bolt where your factory hitch went and have them long enough to weld to the bumper. there are tabs there already but i guess crosby cut em off or something? either way you can have someone make this cheap
