Rear HD Crossmember

Anyone ever plate, or build up the rear crossmember on the TJ bodystyle Wrangler? I hate having a horrible departure angle off the back of my Jeep... Between the millions of scrapes and dents in the ZJs rear bumper I decided the TJ was going to not encounter the same problems.

I'm looking to replicate or I just may end up purchasing this... The $390 pricetag makes me think I'm just going to make my own...



I know that Genright as well as Swag and a a few others make these as well... just not sure if the Sinister Fabworks design is worth while.

Why dont you just cut off the rear crossmember and make a beef rear crossmember/bumper?

Thinking that is going to be the route I take... I've bee keeping an eye out for material that I can scrounge up to use... I was almost thinking some heavywall 4x4 box I found could make a serious bumper.

4x4 might look really stupid... you gould get 2 lengths of 4" bar weld them at a right angle and use a piece of 5.5" bar to basically make a tube thats shape is a right triangle, then weld it to the frame rails. i would decent, and keep shit away from the tube pretty well

I would buy that back plate and bend &weld your tube ect like you want. It would be tough/time consuming to perfectly match that rear crossmember/get it perfect, Thats from my perspective..
