      • Well, if you really need to save the monies then so be it, but with the 35's I think you would like the 4.56's more. You have to gear the front regardless, so go for broke dood!

        Either way, I vote 8.8. The deciding factor for me is they are fairly easy to find for cheap, whereas an XJ44 is hard to find and mad coin yo.

        It's easy enough to grind/torch off some old brackets and weld a couple of spring perches/shock mounts.

        • i have full confidence with a dana 44 on 35's but yea the 8.8 is deff a good option and for the fact that a bolt in 44 is probably double the price a disc 8.8, i'd rather move some spring perches and save the dough.

          for me its always the money, do whats gonna get you the best deal but the strongest possible result. I'd be reluctant to gear the 8.25, but you already do have it locked, so thats an up in the air decision.

          waiting for a deal on already geared/locked axles can be hit or miss. How many more patronos are gonna part their jeep out..... btw thanks dave for the rear axle... these truly are the best deals though if you're willing to hang around and wait for them.

            • Maybe buy alloys for the 8.25 and gear it? you already have the locker and cover. Is it worth it to have to spend at least another 400 for a locker and cover for a 44/8.8 plus the cost of the axle and anything else it may need?

                X2, this is what I would do, then run your stock shafts as spares. IIRC alloys for 8.25s arent terrible expensive. O look around everywhere you are bound to find geared/locked axles.

                      • i completely agree with keeping the 29 spline. saves you a ton of money since you have it and the locker. shafts and gears, done

                          29 spline:

                          yukon 4.56 with install kits- $610
                          yukon shafts- $260
                          D30 carrier- $60

                          total- $930 plus shipping...

                          Ford 8.8

                          axle with 4.10s/disks- $200 ish
                          clayton 4.10s for D30- $170
                          D30 install kit- $80 ish
                          aussie- $270
                          Solid or riddler cover- around $100

                          Total: $820
                          PLUS: -$300 ish for selling the 8.25 with locker and cover
                          Grand Total: $520
