I am picking this thing up Monday night.

I have a few plans for it but could always use some ideas from the XJ people. I am/was a TJ guy so this whole unibody leaf sprung thing is new to me.

swap a 29spline 8.25 in or a d44 depending on you plans for it.

      Jealous of the two door...

And x2 on axle swap. Pretty easy to find. If you could find front and rear axles from an auto XJ, you'll have 3.55 gears instead of craptastic 3.07's. This gives you a bit of wiggle room before you have to regear in terms of tire size. I think Andrew ran 3.55's on a 5spd for a while, ask him how it drove.

I was thinking the 8.8 since I had good luck with it in the TJ and just regear the d30 to 4.10's. Claytons, sye, driveshafts, 34" skinnys, discos, brakes lines, etc.

Armor and frame connectors are some things that I would rather not trial and error to see what's good.

        frame connectors?
        rocker gaurds?
        Skids?
        body armor?
        doorless?

        what are some good ones?

-frame connectors? I'm guessing you mean frame stiffeners? If so go to HD offroad Engineering and get a set
          -rock sliders - JCR offroad
-skids - I liked my Kilby ones a lot, JCR has some nice stuff now too.

You dont see too many people running 34`s but if you end up going 33`s I would leave the 29 spline and throw an auto locker in there. If you bump to 35`s I would do the 8.8 or the D44 swap.

I would look at JCR or AJ`s for sliders

Skids would be Kilby. My Warn t-case skid hasnt impressed me and I dont really hear good things about skid row

Depends on what body armor youre looking at

Just take the doors off, you wont regret it!

I`m running 3.55 gears with 33`s (auto trans) and its not aweful but I really cant wait to regear it. Just dont drive it like you stole it and its liveable

Also on 3.55's and 33's, it's not world shattering but I certainly won't win any races unless it's against Henchman

stiffeners helped alot, made the jeep feel tighte all around, as for skids I went the junkyard route and used a zj gas tank skid and a hitch, totall of 50$ and now I have some protection, other than that get rid of the d35, and wheel

Pertaining to my generous use of the win pedal on 3.55's and 33's.

use 4.88 gears in the 8.8/30 combo ....youll get a good crawl ratio as well as decent road manners....
