  • Winch Cable

I have the opportunity to grab a buddy's Smittybilt xrc8 winch that needs cable and the remote doesn't work. I was thinking of giving him $100 for it after seeing that a 50 ft cable is around $75.

Where can i pick some cable up, and is this a good price to offer for the winch?
(looking for a 92 ft steel cable replacement)

I think that would be a pretty good deal for the winch, brand new they sell for around 300.

As far as the cable, have you looked into synthetic rope? Unless the price difference is astronomical, I think it would be worth it.

the XRC8 I believe you can find for about 250. 100 bucks plus the cost of cable and fixing a new remote may cost you close to that, but hey it may not. Still not a bad deal

It has cable, i think it may just be worn, we pulled him out using the cable and a towstrap a few weeks ago so i would think it still has some life in it

That's what i was planning on doing. Since this isn't one of the things i originally planned for the jeep, if i can get it for 50 and work out the wiring with the remote than great, if not, then what ever i got it for dirt cheap.

get it, use it, save for winch rope, when the cable dies, it's well worth it to replace the cable with rope. the cost really isn't that bad when you consider the upgrade.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.
