NP231

Preferably with an SYE, but not a 100% deal breaker. My chain is stretched pretty badly in mine and it has been rubbing the case. Not looking for a beat up one that needs a rebuild.

If memory serves, it needs to be a post 91 NP231, as prior are 21 spline. I think I need a 23?

system interchange shows 97-01, probably looking at service replacement interchange based on the speed sensor

If you a long you can always shorten it with a die grinder.

I Know I have a couple chains. If you want them they are yours.

If this is to go with your other thread on the 242 problems I would keep the 242 over a 231 all day. The sprockets are 50% larger so the chain sees 50% stress. Plus the front output is big I believe it is 32 spline.

I also have a bunch of 242 parts. I just couldn't make my self throw away the bin of T-case parts.

You can swap a chain in the car.

Different issue (242 is in my black jeep, my green jeep has a 231 in need of attention)

I could just swap the chain but I am concerned with the damage it has done to the actual case already or other components. Not sure how much I need to worry though, it hasnt gotten to the point of skipping teeth or making any noise other than dragging on the case. Thoughts? I would happily just swap a chain if it was advisable.
