i was looking to do a little offroading on the weekends and drive it during the winter. nothing too crazy but something that i wont have to many issues with. i have around 3k to spend

3k could easily land you an XJ or a ZJ. Wranglers generally run more.

bet you could talk him down to 1200 or so and use that extra money for new floor boards, and fenders

i actually just picked up a 89 wrangler in pretty good shape. thanks for looking around for me though. first thing other than getting it registered will be some bigger tires.( its completely stock other than a 6pt roll cage and some speaker boxs the guy made for it.

Well I think that jeep Wrangler attained iconic status when it was released in the international market. This was because of its excellent styling and superior off road abilities, it is easy to take hard top off, it rides very smooth, I think that it is better than I expected.
