One of the posters on NAXJA figured out it would be work around 8-9k.

I'm basically copying someone else that said the same thing, but would you let it go for 8k? I don't know if I would. I doubt he actually expects to get 30k for it, but some idiot could offer him much more than it is actually work and he will jump on it. It's been sitting in his garage for how many years? I don't think he cares if it sits there for a few more.
