picked up a new truck project (1981 chevy c10 stepside ) and dont have room for my current daily driver my 99 chevy silverado 2wd 4.3L auto.
The Good - Mechanically sound. I am a auto mechanic/emissions tech so any problems get taken care of right away. runs and shifts great, i am original owner, ive ran mobil 1 all its life. Tranny's been flushed last year, new filter, B&M trick shift tranny fluid. Over the years ive replaced fuel pump, water pump, intake manifold gasket, few coolant flush's, belt , brakes, rebuilt rear end, replaced driver front unit bearing assembly, replaced heater core. Front end is tight. Comes with hard fiberglass tonneau cover , after market stereo (pioneer ), upgraded speakers in doors. after market headlights/turnsignals/taillights/rollpan/grille is a billet grille painted to match the truck color.
I Have HID wired up in the truck but the passenger bulb burned out so i connected stock low beams for now. Pick up a $10 bulb off ebay and this truck can have HID headlights.
The bad- Rust above rear wheel on bed, various dents on bed, bed is spray painted stock color. front bumper has a dent in it and bumper bracket is bent also (can easily be replaced). Tailgate hinge on drivers side is rusted out, although its covered under a TSB recall (recall ID # 37733). window cranks are stripped so i have a pair of vise grips to roll windows up and down (comes with truck lol) . The truck also throws an evap leak code every few weeks (gas tank outer hose isnt all the way sealed tight). and also throws a cat code every few weeks whenever the stupid emission stuff decided to throw it. Passed emissions in July though so all set for new owner. Odometer display has loose connection so doesnt always show unless you hold the trip reset button in.
perfect fixer upper truck or run as is if you dont care about the dents. $1500
front view (pic taken 8/21/09)
front/side
close-up of the rust, really should be cut out and a filler piece welded in.
rear view
passenger side view, side with the dents. I parked to close to my truck one day with my TJ and backed into the bedside. didnt scratch my jeep, but pushed the bedside in (probably could be pushed out from the backside)
ok I cleaned up the interior today so here's some new pics, also pulled the cluster and pushed on the odometer connector and got the display working again ( i knew it was a loose connection, common on silverados)
door handle
dirty floors , but you get the idea
mileage as of 8/22/2009
pioneer deck, works great, plays mp3 mix cd's etc
