Fine. Fuck you Ryan.
So heres the deal:
1998 Ford F-150 XLT (third door), Black, 179k miles.
5.4L V-8, Automatic, 4x4 with tow package. Tinted windows, full fiberglass matching cap with ladder racks. Plastic bed liner.
The Good:
I've taken this thing on a bunch of road trips and its very comfortable on the highway. last trip we averaged 21-22 MPG the whole way.
Has new power steering pump, water pump, serp belt, radiator is a few years old now but that went in with new hoses, new heater core (Major bitch to install) and blend door, thermostat, 2x temp sending units and a new coolant cap. New coil packs, plugs and wires. New gas tank straps as well.
The Bad:
I wont lie to you guys, its got a few issues.
Lets start with the worst one... The passanger side head gasket needs to be replaced. I simply dont feel like taking on this project, so Im not gonna. I also dont care to spend the money to have Ford do it. I've dumped too much time and energy into this thing to give it any more. This is why Im looking to get lowballed by someone who has the means or desire. I just want the truck gone so I can get my Jeep going again.
Other issues include:
Temp guage doesnt work due to a short.
It has rust under the doors typical to most F-150s of this style.
The shifter needs to be adjusted. Ford told me to bring it in when they had more time... I have not. They just told me not to shift into 2 or 1 and I'll be fine. Has been working for me as I have no reason for 2 or 1 usually.
T-case shifter is hard to shift. Always has been. I just live with it.
Has two newish tires up front, but the rears need to be replaced. Rear passanger rim is missing a chunk (has since i've owned it) so a new rim is needed too. I didnt feel like spending the money.
Could use new tail light lenses. still legal, just ugly.
Has mounts on frame for running boards, although the ones that were on it rusted out so I ditched them long ago.
The relay for the door light/chime sticks in humid weather. Couldnt hurt to replace, I just pull the fuse when it acts up.
The resistor for the heat is shot, so it only is off or full blast.
AC could probably use a charge.
Its a work truck. Looks like a work truck, smells like a work truck. All in all its been pretty good to me, and I've put a good deal into it. Im just tired of it, as its not what I need, and I simply dont have the time or the energy to want to fix whats left to do on it. I just want it gone.
Blue Book value at "fair" which is their lowest estimate puts this truck at $4K.
I'd like to see 3K honestly.
And like I said, it will be a great truck for someone whose willing to put in a few dollars and a little elbow grease.Last edited by HitItWithSomeSpeed; 04-21-2014, 02:22 PM."Watching you work on your Jeep is like watching a doctor operate on a cadaver...
