Any of you guys eat bass, and more importantly enjoy it? I've been told by a lot of people that they have a real "fishy" taste to them, and they aren't really good eating. But on the other hand, I've heard some that say they are actually pretty good.

I've just gotten into fishing this year, and snagged 6 largemouth this afternoon. Kinda regretting not taking home 1 or 2 just to try it.

    Any good recipes?

I've eaten them and enjoy them. They aren't as good as trout or anything, but still tasty.

What are you using for baits?

I havent eaten bass in a long time but if i remember it wasnt too bad. as for recipes wrap it up in foil with some butter (or olive oil if you wanna go healthy) and add a good amount of old bay inside and out. also you can do the same thing with other spices like rosemary. Than put it on the grille. Thats what i do with trout at least and it always comes out bangin.

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

Today I was using some Jitterbugs, but mostly Hula Poppers.

black jitterbugs are my bait of choice once the sun starts going down. I love topwater fishing. other than that pete and I are very fond of plastic baits

I'm a big fan of Jitterbugs, but I snagged one in a tree the other day *doh!* so I only had one left. I didn't feel like loosing two lures in one week.

yup, jitterbugs are awesome at sunset and for night fishing. I use a lot of plastics for some reason, jsut what I have found to work. Gary Yamamoto Yamasenko rubber worms are great. I usually stick to a pumpkinseed color or even a black. Gulp makes great worms as well and also their chartreuse colored "Swimming Mullet." Pretty much anything bites those minnows from pickeral to bass.

If I'm using a lure my go to lure is a mid-sized blue/black spinner bait. For some reason I have caught the most bass on that color. Shallow crank baits have worked well too as well as blue/black jigs.

                      Nope.

But, if you want to talk about expensive, me and two of my buddies were up at Cabelas the other day and they both bought one of these bastards.

Not those exact ones, but same name and same style. $20 for one fucking lure.

The action on them are amazing though.

I used to bowfish for carp that big up at school. That was fun as hell.
