First figure out what type of bike you wanna ride, whether it be a cruiser or a crotch rocket. They are both a very different type of ride. I'm speaking from experience having owned 2 r6's, a GSXR 600, and now a Harley Davidson Night Train (Softail). On a cruiser you do a lot less leaning into turns than you do on a crotch rocket. On the highway its full on wind in your face because you can't "tuck" under your windscreen. Regardless of what you are going to purchase, take the MSF course. You'll get a discount on your insurance and you won't go into riding not knowing your ass from your elbow. Your not gonna land many bikes in the $3500 range unless you go older or you go less than 600 cc's in the sportbike world. Don't buy a salvaged title bike, most salvaged title bikes become track bikes because nobody wants to buy them re-sale. Hope this helps you make a wise decision, and be careful man.06 Wrangler TJ 6 Speed 4" Rough Country Lift on BF Goodrich 33's.

You can kill yourself on a vespa, size has nothing to do with it. A cbr 600 is pretty underpowered below 8-9k rpms, so its a fine starter bike. Thats what I would get, and I know plenty of others that have done the same. My advice though, spend 3 grand and save the 500 for frame sliders.
edit: size has nothing to do with it below a certain threshold, dont start on a litre bike please.Last edited by loudobbs; 06-21-2010, 04:26 PM.2001 TJ
