  • speakers don't work

Yes, I suck with computers. If this is a stupid question, feel free to flame.

I couldn't get my old set of shit-tastic speakers to work, so I just went and bought new ones.

Well, when I plug them in, no sound comes out. I try going to audio under control panel, it says there is no audio device plugged in. Basically I can't change any of the settings. I tried calling for customer service thinking this was a stupid question/quick fix, but they aren't around.

    Help plz.

it's like the computer doesn't know anything is plugged in

my fathers computer does the same thing(dell desktop)

sounds like bad sound card ( not-common) or bad drivers for it (common)

Yep, same thing happened to me when I had to flash my computer. Dell customer service wanted .70 cents a minute.
