I will support the troops, and I understand that in the circumstances there is shit we can't understand. But seriously this is fucked up.

The soldiers job is to be an object of war to protect both the people of their home country and the people behind their cause. In this case i think it's the soldiers job to risk his life to make sure that's a guy with a gun, not a tripod. He signed up for said job. No, I have never been shot at. No I haven't served my country in a time of war.

I'm not saying the soldiers should be strung up, but that this is a vaible example to consider what this cnflict has become, and why it's failing to achieve it's proposed goals.
