  • Command Center: Fairfield

So the big storm hit us here, hard as fawk on the shore! The radio as I drove around last night said 70mph winds. I believe it!

The power company says it can be 2 days we are going without power. Fun stuff.

Enter: The Command Center. Created out of boredom and lack of action the following day after the storm.

I took to the streets in search of food..I found myself on the desolate remains of what used to be called "black rock turnpike". Somehow the WiFi outside of the local starbucks still functions even after the armageddon merely hours before! I unfolded my laptop to tell my tale of survival.

Here I sit, on whatever wifi the world has left

    Myy journey the night before...
I hit the road last night to find out what was going on and to actually gauge how bad this storm was. I headed straight for the beach...what normally is a 5 minute drive ended up taking 45 minutes due to downed power lines and tree trunks littering the road system..i eventually found an odd route to get there....and as expected...i was the only one there. I headed to the highest point overlooking the beach...my jeep was literally rocking violently with the wind gusts..i got out to snap a couple pictures..but quickly got back inside after i realized the blowing rain was actually painful and my that my camera probably wouldnt take too well to 70mph misting..

the ocean (long island sound) was like being on the open sea...choppy as all hell. for any of you that have seen jurassic park...it was just like when the storm hit there ...i was not unlike dennis nedry navigating the desolate terrain with my aux lights gooing...haha (dramatization)

i headed home because the dangers of falling shit was getting worse, a couple people went to the hospital and someone actually died because of it last night..tree fell on his car while driving

i awoke the next morning to hit the road again out of boredom, and to see what happened

found out why i didnt have power.

i headed to the beach again

    along the way

at the beach..i headed into the pavilion

the outside "deck" was all torn up, capsized boat on the shore

    enjoy the beach.

by this time the wild animals had taken to the beach and were starting to swarm! i had to find shelter fast

the beach parking lot had been overtaken by the sand

those are my pictures for now..until power is restored i will probably wander farther....hopefully i will survive to tell my tale! until then, GODSPEED!

i drove that way early this morning (monroe CT) and witness's some of the damage, on my way back home from my journey around 10 to 10:30 i seen a convoy of like 6 humvee's, 5 tanker looking things and like 3 tractor trailer looking things heading south towards your area , all from the military in full camo. One of the hummers was desert storm color's while the rest were a mix camo

last night on my drive home the highway and roads into town were flooded. myself and my friend with his sti were driving through over a foot of water cascading across the roads. not good when our cars are only a few inches off the ground, wish i had my jeep.

forward to today. the roads out of my town are all shut down due to flooding and washouts so no pics from driving around. here are a few of the lake though.

                    where did the stairs go?

the boat is sitting on the dock

this dock is supposed to be about 3 1/2 - 4 feet above the water line

                    neighbors dock is completely gone

the other neighbors yard is completely under water. keep in mind all these boats are ashore for the winter

quick untie the boats and put them on a mooring so you dont have to unload them later on

lol i thought about it but the 15 footer on the dock is easy enough to get into the water later on. my other boat in the boathouse is on the lift and the water is just about to the hull

Thats pretty nuts. It wasn't that bad on the cape except that somehow my Jeep has 2" of water in it. The water in my jeep is currently draining out of it the way its parked, pitched to the front drivers side, and I didn't put a drain hole there
