  • Buying back from insurance company

Anyone ever have any experience buying a totaled vehicle back from the insurence company before it gets towed off the junk yard? My girlfriend had a slow head on collision in her Cherokee last Thursday and they totaled it and there is definately not enough damage that I couldn't fix for $300 in junkyard parts. Her parents want to take the money and buy her a vehicle but is there anyway to get it after the fact and how much would I be looking at?

when i got in my accident they totaled it because there was over $1000 worth of damage but let me have triple a tow it out of the impound lot to my house. only cost me about $120 to get it out and it was a free tow from RI to CT

ask them.... itll be dirt cheap compared to buying a new car.
my friend and his dads cars were totaled by the same guy. brand new challenger and (my apologies>) a F150 bought back the truck for i wanna say around a grand and all it needed was a new bed and some body work around the door.
funny video of the accident though posted on facebook, im trying to see if i can just paste the video here... give me a sec

You can buy them cheap, sure, but if you ever want to get it back on the road, you have to jump through hoops of fire to get that salvage title reversed at the DMV.

This. you will need to document EVERY part with pictures and receipts. Then you will need to take millions of pictures of the build. Everything has to be perfect my last boss got his balls busted cause he was missing a grommet in the fire wall. Then you will be issued a title that has rebuilt put on it forever
