so my car...

is going to die...

left it at hippies for a night.
it ran fine before i got there.
i get in it tonight.
start it and let it warm up.
got in it, put it into reverse,
it started sputtering like it was going to stall.
so i put it in park, gave it gas and it stopped.then i put it back into reverse, and it pulls the sputtering shit again.
when i say sputter i mean i feel like its going to stall out but its an AUTOMATIC.
drove down the drive way and turned onto the road and the check engine light comes on. LUCKY ME. fucking subaru. keeps sputtering all the way to my house, check engine light flashing the whole way.

its either a. my tranny which i have been complaining about FOREVER
or b. my catalytic converter, because subaru loves to address my future problems a week before i experience them. they sent me a letter last week saying "during a yearly review on your model we noticed that the catalytic converters were bad. so when you have the check engine light on you need to bring it to your subaru dealer right away." well subaru aint open at midnight now is it?

my car is parked in my driveway. it will stay there, my father doesnt give 2 shits about it, and he enjoys me suffering. i am so glad i had a nice weekend to compensate for this lovely night ive had.

My XJ runs like shit in reverse too, then I put it in drive and it works fine.

it did the same thing in drive. my car is fucked up and im glad that when i warn my father that somethings wrong he tells me to drive it till it dies and well figure something out. well its dying and he could care less. is something wrong with him? im really hoping its because it was midnight and he was sleeping and its not him being a douche bag.

car drove. i live 3 minutes away from the hippie. he was with me when it all happened. it sputtered the whole way home no weird noises just jolted the whole way haha. and yes it was flashing.

well will ive had my eye on a 99 purple wrangler sport 5 spd. its beautiful and in MINT condition. so this just gets me one step closer to it and i drove it and it stalled twice on a hill GO ME!

Could be O2 sensors if its not the cats....if the check engine light stays on, and it's OBDII, i'd bring it to auto zone and borrow the electronic code reader they have before i waste money at the stealership.

it flashes. exactly what my letter from subaru said it would do. theres a recall on cats because they suck. i get it done for free... well the cat is... if i gots to pay for labor they can go pound sand and ill take it somewhere else to be done. lol. i really hope its not the censors though that would really blow.

its not the 02 or the cat. get the code read, like alex said its a misfire. the 4EATs are pretty good trannys, i wouldnt bet on that being the cause. id put my money on something in the ignition, the boxer motor runs like SHIT with a misfire bc of the geometry of the thing.

What year and how many miles? Im going with misfire as well. It may be a clogged cat I suppose. It wouldn't rev if it was plugged. A pry bar would make quick work of that problem.
