angle iron like this _| |_ with cross-beams like a railroad track, 4 foot sections.

i used pneumatic tires like this so the dolly could function stand-alone on pavement and shop floors

got it.

oddly enough, the 45 degree mounted skateboard wheels work extremely well on smooth surfaces.. used it without the track on a gym floor. i have two 11ft sections of PVC that are put together using a small piece of 2.75" OD PVC as a coupler for 22ft of track.

what i found out that i never took into account when building, is that you absolutely cannot use the internal mic now, all the bearing noise and wheel contact noise is amplified through the dolly itself and bam there goes any useable audio. you need an external mic if you want audio.

phil put together this beauty for one of our gopros for a cage roll bar mount...it has a swivel-lockdown stud for 360 motion, and then the camera itself can move 180 degrees perpendicular to that for a full range of motion. the wonders of a machine shop! oh and its blingy aluminum
