I've actually tried to read the articles in Playboy, it was pretty mind numbing, the useless mundane shit they ramble on about, especially when the next page over there is some naked woman.

I watch motorsports for the carnage. That is why Monster Trucks, while juvenile and campy, bring to the table what everyone wants to see: A giant truck smashing other cars, get stupid air and then breaking a 2.5 ton axle and have the wheel roll away like a toy.

What about when 7 cars hit the wall flip over it and hit the crowd. While the whole track is on fire. Then everyone else in the race is watching it and they create a crash.

Yeah I guess once you see that happen, there really isn't much more to see during that race. Unless 8 cars hit the wall and the moon crashes into the track moments after.

Even I will admit nascar can get slightly boring behind a TV screen, but go to a couple races and tell me you don't get amped up.

Sitting 6 rows away from the track, pieces of shredded tire hitting my face, and ear drum rattling race cars going by at 180+ was pretty fucking awesome.

Not to mention the drunk fans kicking eachothers asses.

The best part of nascar is the first 20 laps and the last 20, then the crashes in between. other than that it is boring, but i'll still watch it.

LOL at Sam's analogy. but I agree with what pete said. The first twenty and the last twenty. the crashes you will see later on ESPN.

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

rednecks are the best part of nascar. During a race I think that's the highest population density of mullets anywhere in the world.

                              found this, makes sense too.

"The average stock car gets between 4-6 mpg, let's assume 5 mpg per gallon for calculating purposes-- most of the races are 500 miles, there are a few that are 400 and a few that are 600, but we will again for calculating purposes say an average of 500 miles. That would be 100 gallons per car, 43 cars in each race, and 36 races per year... that gives you 154,800 gallons per year total."

So, say an average car has a 15 gallon tank. that means that those 154,800 gallons of fueled used in nascar in those races would only fill up 10,320 cars. There are about 5500 people that live in my town and i bet most have more than one car. Therefore, nascar uses as much gas as if the people in my town would fill up their cars once. Thats not that much.
