Letterman took the audience at Thursday's taping of CBS' Late Show by surprise with his announcement that he had been the target of a $2 million extortion attempt by a man who offered proof of the late-night host's relationships with female staff members.

yupppp! he basically said it all before the newspapers could break it out the next morning...i dont know if it was a smart or bad move but i do love how he apologized to his wife too on the show
