  • I'm radioactive

I went to the doctor this morning and now I'm putting out about 1 millirem per hour. Now I'm just waiting for my new superpowers to kick in.

    Pics 'cuz it happened:

A person would get this amount of radiation from

    * Three days of living in Atlanta
    * Two days of living in Denver
    * About seven hours in some spots in the Espirito Santo State of Brazil.

You increase your dose by a millirem by:

    * an average year of TV watching
    * a year of wearing a luminous dial watch
    * a coast-to-coast airline flight
    * a year living next door to a normally operating nuclear power plant

I didn't get a 1 millirem dose, I'm emitting 1 millirem/hour (and have been since 9:00 this morning when they injected me with some radioactive goo) so you would receive the equivalent of 1 year next door to a nuclear power plant by standing next to me for 1 hour. For comparison my mom is emitting .022 millirem.

I stuck the sensor up to the TV screen and it didn't seem to go up at all from the background level (~.017 millirem). This made me sad.

So while I'm sitting here irradiating the couch with nothing better to do, does anyone else have any suggested targets for me to point my radiation-o-meter at?

PS: In before "your mom" jokes.

PPS: How long before the FBI raids SiS because the words "nuclear power plant", "radioactive", and "target" appear in the same post?

A while back my boss was getting caner treatments. He told me the first night he got home, he went in the bathroom and turned off all the lights to see if he would glow in the dark

I thought of that but I already took a dump before I got the meter and I'll probably be back to normal by the next one.

Added difficulty is that I can only measure things I can put the meter on and walk away from, otherwise I throw the reading off.

FYI, I've picked up a couple hundred or so millirem in the course of a day at work and have worked in areas that emit 600+ millirem per hour. Basically just watch your total dosage rise. I still don't glow.

The fact that you are emitting radiation is kinda cool.

Stick that thing in a microwave
