just cleaned the subaru today...found out the front of my hood is totally fucked..wasnt like that when i bought, so it must have been when i was following adam and sam down a dirt road in NY...its all pitted and chipped obviously from flying debris, to the point where there is pin hole rusting

what is my best bet for cleaning something like this up? it isnt all pin hole rusting, thats just the worse of it, but theres a lot of blemishing up there, id get a pic but its dark....im hopin the best solution for this isnt repainting, i dunno anything about carbody care though...

theyre all tiny rock hits, lots of dots

anyone have any suggestions?

if its already down to metal u probably wont be able to make it perfect, but not noticable. get some touch up paint. put it on the metal spot then get a deep cutting compound and buff the area. then get a lighter compound, then wax and it will all most likely come out and the touch up spot will be pretty smooth, should be unnoticable

The vw/audi world is a sick, twisted place.

If its got small dents in it, looks mimicking hail damage, the only way to fix it is a complete repaint along with body filler to take out the small imperfections. Your other option would be to buy new parts and have them painted.

If the damage is down to the metal of the hood, no amount of buffing or wet sanding will make it look like it was, it may help, but those processes only help with swirl marks and scratches on the paints surface.
