  • Anyone dive?

Im getting open water certified here real soon, cant wait to start diving. I went snorkeling today and it was a blast swimming through the tropical reefs seeing all the wild life.

Hopefully ill like diving enough to buy the gear and do it often.

Luckily for me im 3 hours away from some of the best diving on the east coast, down in North Carolina.

So , anyone else dive ?

My dad used to do it a lot. Now he pretty much only uses his stuff for checking anchors and moorings.

I went diving in St. Maartin. it was just an exploritory dive but it was a blast. had my road trip not been so close coming up, I would have gotten cert'd this year.

I have my open water cert. but I really only dive for lobster or work cleaning boat bottoms, zinc replacement, clearing lines out of propellors, or small item recovery.

side note mike: tropical diving vs north east diving are totalllyyyyyy different. but the fact youre always traveling its def a good idea to get the cert. itll be worth it. PADI and NAUI are both accepted certifications around the world and are good for life

nice, yeah im getting a PADI cert.

Mad cheap, 190 for the class. Then to rent gear you can rent the whole shebang for 20 bucks for 2 days, refills on the tank are like 5 bucks.

Other than visibility and probably water temps, what else is different?

I was looking at this dive company in Morehead City NC who go bring you out to all the wrecks, and diving with Sand Tigers for wicked cheap.

yup, different places have different prices on their rentals and such. my shop had a thing if you bought your tank there you got free air fills for lfe.

Vis and temps are the main differences, but theres also different currents up around here. If someone hasnt done northeast diving before we wont let them go without making their first dive with a divemaster.

yeah thats a good place to go when you do go let me know and i can let you know the boats we charter. my shop is actually looking for people to go on the NC trip they have planned at the end of the month. if you take your class before then you could go on that trip and do your check out dives there. or anywhere you want to
