  • My new class

Say what you will about Wyotech, there are both good and mostly bad things said about the school on the internet and from current or former students. I have had a great experience here so far and have learned a ton of information in only a short 6 month period. With that said I will attempt to not side with either positive or negative comments made about the school. The one thing i will say that i have found, is that with anything you only get out of the school exactly what you put into it.

Anyway, I wanted to share because i'm really stoked about my new class. I graduated from Automotive Technology(4.0 GPA/ 100% attendance) and have now moved on to my 3 month elective, which is Motorsports Chassis Fabrication. The class is split into two 6 week phases and the first phase which i started this week consist of Basic Metalworking, Cutting and Shaping, Grinding and Finishing, MIG Welding, TIG welding, Frame Design, Frame modification, Precision Measuring, Basic Machining, Mechanical Drawings and blueprints, Custom Suspension Design, and Steering Design.

Second Phase there are a couple more subjects i cant recall but the last 4 weeks is all time to build a custom project (if you have the money). I've got to get some things in order and it might not happen all but i'm pushing around the idea of building a custom Frame and Suspension with my CJ-7 body under W.E.Rock Pro Mod regulations.

So if you have any Frame and/or suspension ideas let me hear 'em. I'd really like to do a Double Triangulated 4link in the rear, but not really sure what i'm thinking for the front. Possibly a Triangulated 4link or a 3link w/ panhard, again not sure.

I'm going to have to remember to bring my camera to class so i can get some pictures of the shop and such, its pretty fuckin sweet.

sounds good dude! All my friends couldn't wait to get out of there and opted not to take chassis fab. Now they all work at Firestone's across CT. Goodluck with the class, CJ project sounds pretty sweet.

Oh believe me i cant wait to get the hell out of here too, but not because i think i'm wasting my time, or not learning anything. Its just the overly strict rules and the accelerated learning with the long class days starts to get to you pretty quick. But it is hard to believe i've been here for 6 months already and only have 2months and 3weeks to go before i graduate.

on a side note.. I must be anti-social, we have the same join date and i am on this site at least 2-3hours everyday and only have 355 posts compared to your 4,250.
