I think the latch is mother f*cked. The outside hand or inner handles don't work. I bought a new latch too, I just need to get it open to replace the thing.

check the bar that goes to the latches. it may be bent. i had that problem on my 99 xj. i took the door panel off and the bar was bent in a weird way for some odd reason. bent it to the same shape as the other door and it worked fine.

I brought it over to Armand's crib last night and we got it open. Looks like one of the pieces on the latch was stuck shut and it was a little rusty. We hit is with some rust solvent/lubricant and it seems to be working for now. Props to Armand for getting me out of another bind!
