I have seen base model 4 banger TJ's with higher mileage for around 3K. It's not hard to find....they are always on craigs list for cheap. You have to remember, a 97 is 12 years old now! I could care less if it's beat or has high mileage, hence the "beater" name. 4 cylinders are just as good with gear. Plus I probably wouldn't go as big as my old one....33's max I think.
Oh, and the crack pipe has been passed
