  • 2001 XJ New shop class project!

Decided to dive down the rabbit hole once more...

I just picked up a 2000 xj for my shop students to work on...

The body is solid but its had a long 189,000 mile life, the 4.0L is currently running but had over heated before it was parked 2 weeks ago. We are going to dive into the motor and hope that it's not hurt too badly. Tranny shifts smooth and was daily driven up until the over heating problem occured.

To keep the kids excited with the project I ordered some 1.75" coil spacers, a pair of 1 5"-2" shackles and a set of 2" extended front bump stops. Any other suggestions for a budget lift kit to keep them enticed with the work is greatly appreciated.

Any input as to what people have liked/disliked?

Been looking at WJ control arms, bumpers, perhaps maybe flares, or even quarter panel armor.

JK arms wouldn’t have to have the bushings modified, but might be a little too long. Would be a better option than having to cut down the WJ bushings though.

I appreciate the offer, but my only concern is they will be too big for the fairly stock setup we're running.

Are they pretty true to 3.5"? I am hoping to find something that will be comparable to the ZJ springs and coil spacers we installed up front. (essentially 2")

The factory leaves have a negative arch so my only fear is that 3.5" + the 1.5"-2" shackle will be more then the stock components can be adjusted for.

These things are old. Definitely need bushings, saw a bunch of wheeling, and towed a pop up across country and back.

They are negative arch, but they sit at about 3.5 with 1" shackles..

Worst case, a set of front coils is like 60 bucks

Im only asking 80 bucks and a few beers anyway. They are RE springs
