Which is truly bullshit. I've had so many wonderful years without Facebook, I refuse to go back.

No incessant posts from people spouting trivial updates about their lives. No controversy over pointless personal opinions or political views. No hours wasted scrolling through ad-filled swill to find the 1 post out of 100 I actually care about.

Facebook (and IG i suppose, although it depends on how you intend to use it) gives people such a false sense of personal connection, when in reality you're "lucky" if 1/10 of the people your friends with actually look forward to what you post and what your doing with your days.


As much as a valid argument it is, Facebook was around when this site started. I don't see how this place has been supplanted entirely by a generic, soul-sucking social media site.

Forums all over the web have been heavily effected by Facebook. Facebook was around in 05 as much as air travel was around for the wright brothers

Facebooks community integration got crazy, as did its use via tagging, and news feed, and so on. Evolution of facebook destroyed forums. I much prefer forums for a lot, however you just cant beat facebook for photos and social.

This is very true. My old club back in Michigan goes a month between posts on the forum, but people post on the FB page all the time. Killed the forum. It has been brought up at my current club about starting a FB page and we voted no because we know what it will do.

I can't argue you draw, especially having one app/outlet that grants you access to what used to requrie multiple platforms.
