  • Because XJ's are too mainstream.

Well i sold the XJ I got and had so much trouble with.

    got this!

1986 comanche. 2.5L i4 motor, AX5 5 speed trans, 6' lift, 8.8 rear end and ZERO rust. Drives like an uncomfortable, slow, epic 80's truck.

ha! I've been warned. At least it's not the BA-10.

I don't plan to wheel the hell out of this thing. It's mostly for camping/snow/beating. Nothing crazy. (yet)

Odd, I've heard the opposite, that they are pretty decently reliable for light duty.

I'll have to keep an eye out.

if it's any help, my jeeps transmission has been doing alright. Got 110,xxx about on it and once it's warm it will never grind, when cold it's tough to use. I have to shift real slow but that's only in the real cold winter months until it warms up. I would consider my use to be pretty abusive with 35s and locked. We will see how long she lasts. Good luck.

I had the cold grinding issue in my TJ with 180k miles on it. Went to Redline Fluid and it helped considerably. It was expensive, but grinding went away in the cold and it shifted better all the time.

I have heard this, and am thinking about trying it. Just need to get around to it. It's just not a priority now. Filling the transmission requires some considerable monkeying around underneath doesn't it?

I bought it from a guy who has just finished a complete rust repair on it. He was young, so the work aint pretty, and he rattle canned it. But I pretty much wanted to start with something rust free, so I could worry about other shit.

Ha Mangi Hill, you're damn right! One day I'll conquer that particular molehill.

Took a look at the events section, is OER scheduled yet? Hil and I may (MAY, if the jeep is capable of the 2 hour drive) be able to make it this year!

yeah, right now it's on 31's and I'm going to go to 33's. I also don't plan to beat on it much. (too hard)

I drove it around in 15 degree weather last week and the trans shifted strong. Maybe I'm just being a noooooobbbb, but maybe it's just in good shape! For now....
