Perhaps I misunderstood the concept then.
I didn't really look much into it since I don't have any investments...
I was under the impression if a stock worth $100 split 2:1 then the person who owns 40 shares, now owns 80 shares worth $50 a piece.

It's just a mental thing really. Shouldn't make anyone more or less willing to buy sell or hold a particular stock. Though you're right, if you had less than 600 bucks and you wanted to invest in apple, you are now able to do so, though the price moving much in relation to that is minimal as most trading is done in big blocks anyway

Look into IT stocks and medical stocks. And precious metals. I bought a few shares of gold when it was at an all time low. Ticker symbol is NUGT. It's doubled in the past month and a half. Silver is high right now. How much time do you have to invest in trading?are you looking into long term rises or quick pump and dump (giggity) You can turn penny stocks into big bucks quickly if you can sit in front of a computer all day and monitor them.

if your looking long term, mix up stocks, pick some bigger companies with track records of growth, toss in some low buck stocks medical / metals / gas/oil etc. research alot... One of the stocks i had invested in ( ACHN ) paid 3.30 a share , bought 400 shares, 3 months later it skyrocketed and i ended up cashing it out at 7.50 a share. almost $1700 profit, reinvested into other companies.
