    Jeep's a no go...

    $800 purchase price
$1000 in parts to pass inspection
$1000 in labor for the parts and to repair two large holes in the floor pans, rusted so bad the carpet was sticking out.

$2,800 and suddenly the jeep isn't such a great deal....

One question tho... it has a little budget boost and 31/10.5's on it... they were rubbing a LOT on the front control arms at full lock. Is that normal on the cherokee? You need to ditch the wheels for ones with more backspacing?

I may still salvage this jeep. I may buy it for $800 and do the work myself. That would keep it under $1800. We will see.

Will, got a link to some good, trustworthy spacers? Are spydertrax still good?

Spidertrax makes some of the most quality parts in the business, and is owned by good people. I'd run theirs without hesitation.

What size would be needed to make it work? Thanks for the info.

ok so I'm looking at replacement floor pans, they don't seem insanely expensive.

But what is that long, rectangular piece that the seats bolt to? It runs across the floor pan.

It doesn't look like it comes with the floor pan. I have no idea how to get those.

Edit: Disregard, it's a seat cross member..... dur

We need to update this thread title to "Doug has stupid noob questions"

So currently I've got these 31/10.5's on the little 2" BB. they fit fine with the spydertrax spacers. (thanks for the help there!)

Now, these tires have a few months on them TOPS ....

                  I want to go with a 33/10.5.

If I plan to trim the fenders, how much lift do I need? 3.5" maybe? More?

It's NOT going to get wheeled hard. It's going to be driven on little trail rides, nothing crazy (yet). so the need for a lot of flex will not be an issue, just need enough flex for some entry level stuff.

So the floor pan came in, but the seat crossmembers did not. They are apparently discontinued. Don't know how they can sell a floor pan.... but not the crossmembers?

Anyone know where I can get them? What about aftermarket brackets? Will they fit the stock seats?

                        Thanks!

                          Leave the old crossmember in?

Been a hot second since I had the front floor of an XJ under my nose, but I think it's just held in with spot welds like the rest of the floor. Just reuse or make up something that'll work.

The seat cross members that are in it are shot. I guess we'll be using some angle iron.
