So today I found out that the truck is pretty much toast, or will be if I keep driving it for much longer.
We took it to get an estimate for replacement of the front ball joints, as well as the exhaust manifold and exhaust system under the truck. As soon as the mechanics drove it into the bay, they got a funny look on their faces, and popped the hood. Come to find out that the lower crankshaft bearings are completely shot.
So they handed us two estimates for basically, replacement engines. One for $5,000 with a used engine, and then $7000 for a new engine. Too bad the truck is only worth roughly $2000 currently.
Those estimates dont even include the three things we origionally went there to get estimates on. Suffice to say, its pretty much the end of the line unless something magical happens.
