For under 10-11 grand, most likely with awd or 4wd, what would it be and why?

I would look into a newer model Subaru. Either wrx/impreza, legacy gt, forester. Reasoning is because its awd, reliable, mpg and I've heard great things about them

I don't foresee "newer" wrx at 10G's.

But I suppose "newer" might mean different things to each person.

Yeah a subaru around 10-11 would probably be in the 06 model range. Still nice though

For the gas mileage I may look into a Ford Explorer or Toyota Rav4. My wife likes those.
