Ok how about this: Since my XJ is finally sorted out and reliable, should I do a low budget build? Taking into account I would be building it for fun since my wife can't make up her mind if she wants me to build her a cafe racer or not. Does the XJ pass the time and satisfy my urge to wrench?
Let's talk about my SKB light striking the bottom barrel every once in a while. Should I replace the bottom firing pin and the hammer spring?
go
We really should talk about you replacing the gun before the barrels start falling apart.
Tough to say, I'd have to see the internals, the firing pin holes could just be filled with shit. If it's 100% spotless and clean, pull the firing pin, polish it but don't remove any material (length) and try that, if nothing changes, change the hammer spring.

I have around 5000 rounds through it I suppose. I took it all apart and its very clean. I'll try the spring. If the barrels separate it doesn't owe me anything and I'll send it off with a smile. I paid $650 for it and it's been good to me. I still haven't hit 100 straight. 98/100 is my best. I'm thinking about buying the FN SC-1. Basically a worked over Winchester 101.

I do SKB's barrel work, so you won't have to send it far.
