  • Stupid Texans...

    http://newsok.com/texas-teen-in-hosp...rticle/3928140

These people traveled to a neighboring state to allow their underage daughter to skydive since she was too young to in texas, signed the release waiver and everything for her saying that death could occur, went through the whole training program and it sounds to me like the daughter panicked and didnt pull the backup chute. Now the parents are trying to find someone to blame, when they should be blaming themselves.... love the society we live in, take some personal responsibility In the end, the girl got extremely lucky, especially to not be a pancake or a vegetable

In skydiving, you dive from the sky and attempt to reduce your terminal velocity before reaching the ground, most commonly via a man made chute of sorts.

If you are not old enough to see an R-Rated movie, buy cigarettes, or enroll in college, I do not believe you are old enough to be considered mentally capable of making a rational decision while plummeting towards the earth.

The parents will have to just live with being terrible parents for the rest of their lives, and the girl (who probably instigated the entire escapade) will spend the rest of her life with bad joints and medical issues and only be able to think what an idiot teenager I was.

This whole thing is laughable. The parents deserve to be tried for gross negligence, and if they weren't already going to go to the poor house because of the medical and lawyer bills, I'd say sued for slandering the jump company's name.

They brought the kid to another state to Skydive legally... You're acting like they rented a plane after being told no and pushed their daughter out with a bed sheet.

As for the lawsuit, when you get hurt doing something, generally people sue. This should be a separate issue from the parents allowing their daughter to legally skydive...

I'm just going off of what the OP said, I don't really care enough to read the article. With that being said, skydiving really isn't all that exciting, in fact, it is kind of boring and made me motion sick.

            They might as well have.

If I took my 17 year old to a country with a lower drinking age and let them drink alcohol till they got alcohol poisoning, that would be my fault.

In reality, the parents can either blame their daughter for being an idiot kid, or themselves for being an idiot adult.

Either way it seems like a lack of judgement on the parents part. I feel like parents just can't say no to their children anymore.

And no, I'm not saying they broke the law and made they're kid skydive illegaly, I'm just saying that they went out of their way to go around the rules in Texas just because their daughter wanted to do something and they couldn't tell her no.
