  • Removing a TCase the easy way.

Currently sitting on the side of the highway waiting for a tow.

Rear end locks up followed by my TCase and driveshaft ripping out of the jeep.

Had to run down the highway and pick up my TCase and driveshaft. It's a mess.

    Story over.

I came into this thread with the homes of telling you the easiest way to get a Tcase out is a grenade above the Tcase, but it seemed like you had one inside the tcase!

Holy fucking shit, that must have been quite the noise!

I grenaded mine going down the highway a few weeks ago, the entire side going to the front end split , chain held everything together enough to limp to town

Yeah, was doing 80MPH at the time it happened. I noticed the vibrations were getting worse, then it starting making a clunking so i started merging to the side of the highway to pull over when it just exploded.

It was the first time i ever saw a T-case bouncing down the highway in my rear view mirror.

                          Anyways i have a few questions/concerns.

I was doing 80 MPH when this happened. Around ~3,000 RPMs. I'm pretty sure the torque convertor was locked. When the T-case ripped out the jeep turned off immediately.

I think the CPS realized something went wrong and just killed the engine. I figure the only damage that was done was to; T-Case, Driveshaft, SYE, rear axle.

I don't think the transmission or engine is messed up but i don't know for sure. I do know for fact that the Centering ball on the rear driveshaft was toasted, but i don't think it could cause all of this to happen. I think something froze up (the T-case or rear end) then the driveshaft transferred the torque from going 80MPH through the driveline and the first thing to give was the T-case. It literally looks like it just twisted off.

Where would you guys go from here?

I would cut a hole in the floor(if the rust hasnt gotten it yet) and flintstone it around
