  • Dont skimp on safety

Hey guys! Its been quite a while since Ive posted here. Ive been really busy with work and family, many of you know how that goes. I just dropped by because I was brought back to reality a few days ago at a 4x4 event I was attending. A friend of mine was attempting a hill climb which looked easy at a glance but was crazy steep and slimey from rain. After almost making it the cherokee slid backwords and turned causing the cherokee to make 2 complete barrel rolls back down the hill and coming to rest on its side. Luckily being the smart guy that he is my friends cherokee had a full roll cage, 5 points, and both induviduals in the cherokee had helmets on per the event rules. Both occupents came out of it without a scratch. It was pretty crazy to watch and by the photo you can see the cherokee is in great shape for making 2 complete rolls. Moral the of the story: Dont skimp on the saftey stuff guys it can save your life. This would have a very different outcome if it were not for the cage. I know the 75ft of DOM on my garage floor just got moved to the top of my list. Be safe out there guys and happy wheeling!

Too bad it didn't go through the engine compartment. Glad everyone is safe. The cage is at the top of my list currently.

I hear if you can't afford the steel that you can't use swim noodles. This will both, cushion the impact, and if you end up in Lake Christy, you can just float to shore.
Is it egg nog season yet?

I heard there's this new fab shop in southern ct... specializes in roll cages, really affordable too.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

I picked up this cage for my YJ a few months ago. Guy had bought a YJ that had this in it, but he needed a back seat so he bought a family cage and sold this to me pretty cheap. It's actually sitting in my YJ now, but not tied in yet.
