    In 1999, the Mets released the woefully unpopular malcontent known as Bobby Bonilla. This guy:



    At the time, the Mets still owed him $5.9mm of his contract. They needed that cash at the time, so they asked Bobby if he would wait for over a decade and then he would get an annual payment worth far more than the $5.9mm. Bonilla agreed.

    Now every July 1, starting in 2011 and lasting til 2035, the Mets cut Bobby a check for around $1.2mm. So despite the fact that he hasn't played since 2001, he is paid more than any starting Met outfielder.

    What would you do if you got $1.2mm every July 1?
