Unlike past thread that ive started myself about swapping a V8 in to an xj im thinking about the opposite. Ive been driving my terrible mpg 2005 4.7L WK for 4 years now just waiting for the magical day when the engine blows up. If i end up keeping it ( most likely will) and drive it in to the ground, eventually it will need motor work. My original idea was pretty easy, swap in a 2nd gen 4.7 or 5.7. Get a good used engine and all the other parts ( im sure most of you are pretty savvy on this stuff). But today i was thinking, how bad ass would it be to swap in a built 4.0L I6? It would fit size wise, would need an adapter to the 545RFE trans and the computer and motor mounts. I think it would be kinda cool as an experiment. I miss my bullet proof I6. None of this will likely ever happen but it seemed like a fun idea at lunch break today.

Honestly, i just wanted to see what kind of rise i could get out of you guys lol. I was remembering when i wanted to put a 318 5.2L in my xj and alex flamed the shit out of the idea. Lol good times. Besides if i were to blow this engine up it would be getting a 6.1L!
And Phil, i sold the xj cause it was an addiction that needed to stop before i started life and a family. Its not safe or logical or economical for a family vehicle or commuting to work and buying a dd was not an option. I barely wheeled it any way and never had the time or money to do so. I still have a hard enough time nit spending money to mod my wk.Last edited by Kyle; 04-30-2013, 09:41 PM.Lady bugs don't like it when you paint stripes on them
