for those who may be somewhat interested in swimming, I will post some more pics from the championship and some details if you're interested. just something real special to me that i wanted to share with all you folks.

a little background of the goings on of this championship. on the men's side there are two competing teams, mine (St. Bonaventure) and UMASS. UMASS usually wins and slams it into our faces. their team goes as far as spitting on our guys as they are paraded past their team area from the ready room to the blocks at finals. it is very cut throat. they try to get under our skin as an antagonistic, better-than-you team. they do not carry themselves well and no other team likes them nor wants to see them win. we get comments from other swimmers and coaches to offer encouragement, respect, and hope for taking down the cunt rags from UMASS.


our team has won the title in 1993, 1999, 2006, and 2013. every other year it has been lost to UMASS.



this year would be different. since early in the season, around thanksgiving, UMASS could see they were going to be in for a major run. we had them in the headlights much closer than usual. there are indicator swim meets around that time that show signs of where a team will be at championships. they were scared by this and we could tell. cocky comments came to follow:

Jan 22:
"Last weekend's performance surely reminded La Salle University and George Washington University that the UMass boys still stand alone atop the A10 Conference."



Day 1:
We won both events and St. Bona lead the meet for the first time in history.


Day 2:
"With keeping it to a mentality of one session at a time, the team answered with all A+'s and one A. In the 7 events that have been completed to this point, your Bonnies have won 6 of them, and the one we did not win we finished 2-3. With 2 A-10 Conference Records and 5 SBU Varsity Records thus far, this group feels the momentum and is focusing on the task at hand tomorrow morning. It is a full team effort and we will need it tomorrow in a very challeged session."

At this point things were looking dismal for UMASS with the steam we had built and the energy that was showing.



Day 3:
We continued to kill it and won a bunch more events. At this point we knew with one final day like the first 3 the door would be closed on UMASS. UMASS faces were looking EXTREMELY shitty at this point. silence and motionless in their team area. they are not good losers.



Day 4:
Ended the meet with a 70 something point lead.

I was recruited by both teams during high school. The swimmer that I stayed with from UMASS when I was there told me something when I committed to St. Bonaventure. "Sorry about your decision." He is now a senior and had to walk out with a losing title. Really ate his words there, I fucking love it.
