Winchester Lever Action question

I have a choice to inherit 1 of 2 guns, both are Winchester 94ae 45 long colt lever actions, one is a long rifle, one is a saddle gun

I believe the long rifle is older, the blueinh is clean and solid, the saddle gun blueing is rainbowy in light

I think i like the long rifle more, any suggestions?

So...anyway...

Want to know which one is older? Look at the serial numbers. Any round about age on manufacture? If your great grandfather killed timber monkeys with them, then they are probably pre-1964 guns, which are desirable and made better than the ones after 1964.

I'd honestly take whichever one you like the best.


As for your PM, I haven't been ignoring it, I'm trying to find a nice way to tell you that carrying a sub-compact 1911 is a bad idea, but I'm just not sure how...mainly because I dislike compact and sub-compact 1911s...


Actually, never mind, I just reread your post and saw that they are AE (angle eject), so they are newer guns (post mid 1980s) so being pre 1964 is out of the question...

Both are post 64, the saddle gun has no saftey, the other has a slide safety. The saddle gun is 80's the other is 2k+, im getting the newer long rifle, i dont want a sub compact 1911, i want a standard frame short barrel 45
