It's been over 2 years, but I might as well tell the story of how things have gone until now:
Bought the Stratus in 2010 and sold the YJ for 3k. Engine and Trans worked perfectly, but ended up going through 3 wheel hubs, tires, and electrical issues. After the third hub failure, I sold it to a ghetto white kid in town for $1,800. That's a loss of $2,700. To buy my own house, I had to get something cheap.
Enter the 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser Station Wagon. Picked it up for $280 in July. A whole new exhaust was needed, and a very thorough tune-up. But the rust has gone too far. And it's just.....boring. The reverse third-row seat is bad-ass though.
My wife (Yes, I got married earlier this year) wants to see me back in a Jeep. At work (Where I butcher animals for tasty meat) my boss offered his 98 XJ to me. Ironically, he's getting into a Subaru (Where have I heard this before...). He only wants 1K for it, but after talking yesterday we're working on a deal where I just give him the Olds so his brother has a car and I get the XJ for NOTHING.
The good about the XJ:
-No rust
-New Tires
-Trans fixed
-Mechanicals are all in order
The bad:
-Radiator is leaking
-U-joints need to be replaced
-Muffler is shot
-Paint is faded and a nice dent in the passenger side door....Like tree-sized
-Missing a wheel nut....not going to ask why
-Liftgate doesn't open
....So that's where things stand. The deal is just taking longer because he wants to find a good deal on an Outback or an Impreza before we do the swap. I'll take pictures today.
