If the popular vote determined the election, no one would give a fuck about the Northeast pretty much as a whole (excluding New York) because of the small populations. No one would give a shit if something needed to happen up here. We'd lose our political voice.

They don't care about the Northeast as it is. No candidate makes campaign stops around here to do anything but fundraise. The Northeast is automatically democratic, except New Hampshire.

If popular vote matter, they'd probably spend more time campaigning because each vote from rural northeast would help offset votes from the cities

fuck that....the electoral college system has been obsolete for years now...none of the states matter at all, my state (PA) is constantly a democratic state even though 95% of the state itself votes for republicans....i dont really care about a "states voice" in the presidential campaign...romney won by over 1 million people on the popular vote, therefore he should be the leader of this country.

I think a compromise would be to allocate electoral votes based on the percentage of the vote each candidate got in that state

ha, mildly prejudiced i am....wont deny, however when i see people coming out and saying shit like "oh i vote Obama cause he black" or "oh i vote democrat because im a democrat" i find that truly unsettling. the blind voters are one of the very huge reasons this country is so fucked up. they put people in positions of power based upon beliefs and similarities to themselves versus voting someone into office based upon their ability to lead and their skills as a leader. much like the previous leader of the free world...put there to line his pockets, once again
