I say make pulley changes, but spec them. Lawnmower stock class specs 8:1 ratio and a motor RPM limit. It is checked in tech inspection and really easy to do.

They also spec that you can modify anything in the drivetrain from jackshaft back, as long as the drive ratio is 8:1 or "slower". That covers locked diffs, chain drives, etc.

I say front axle is fair game as long as it is of the factory "style" (like stock class suspension rules). I'd make steering mods unlimited. Direct drive steering and tie rod upgrades will be safer and a no brainer. Rear suspension (if it has any) should be stock.

Those mods are cheap, $1-200 or so, and would make racing much more...ridiculous. Stick to the roots but add excitement. 12-15 mph is PLENTY.

I agree with Tim 100% 15 mph on a lawn mower is plenty. Along with the rest of hi rules.

8:1 ger ratios at governed mower rpm (3650) with a stock size 18" tire is still 24 mph fyi. Believe me I had to run that class back before I was 16...

Kind of agree. It'd be kind of cool to see a 4wd lawnmower if it was factory, but again this would take away from the absolute ridiculousness of the race.
