LL Cool J confronted a burglar on Wednesday morning, detaining him at his home until police arrived. The rapper discovered the intruder in his kitchen, Los Angeles police revealed, resulting in a violent showdown.
"There was a brief physical confrontation between the two," LAPD spokesman Richard French told Reuters. According to gossip website TMZ, the Mama Said Knock You Out star allegedly broke the man's nose and jaw.
The incident took place around 1am on Wednesday when the intruder tripped the house's security system. LL Cool J, 44, went down to investigate the commotion and found a 58-year-old man who "appears to be a homeless person", police said. After the rapper had subdued the intruder, his daughter called police and they waited for officers. The intruder was taken into custody, then hospital.
"LL Cool J, and his family, are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern," his publicist said. "As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is co-operating with authorities on this private matter."
